The Palestinian resistance movement group Hamas described the death of former Zionist regime prime minister Ariel Sharon as a historic moment for the Palestinian nation.

Sharon died on Saturday at a hospital in Tel Aviv after eight years in coma. On January 4, 2006, Sharon suffered a stroke and went into a coma, from which he never recovered. He was being treated at the Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said the death of Sharon after eight years lying in coma was a Divine sign and a lesson for all Taghouts (those who rebel against God), Al-Yawm Al-Sabi website reported.

He said the Palestinian nation is witnessing historic moments with the death of this murderer whose hands are stained with the blood of Palestinian people and leaders.

A member of the Palestinian group Islamic Jihad also called on Zionist regime officials to draw lessons from the death of Sharon.

Ahmed Al-Mudalil said Sharon was the embodiment of the Zionist criminality, adding that he nonetheless failed to break the resolve of the Palestinian nation for resistance against the Zionist regime.

Meanwhile, Palestinians at the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp in Southern Lebanon rejoiced at the news of Sharon’s death.

They chanted slogans, played revolutionary songs and fired shots in the air inside the camp to celebrate the death of the Butcher of Sabra and Shatila.
