New Quranic Center to Open in Senegal

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A new Dar-ol-Quran Al-Karim will be established in Dakar by the Iranian Cultural Center in Senegal.


According to the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the decision was announced in a meeting of Seyyed Hassan Esmati, the Iranian cultural attaché in Senegal, with Sheikh Thierno Madani Tal, the head of Tijaniyyah Sufi order in the region.





The Iranian official stated that developing Quranic relations between Iran and Senegal is among the main objectives of the cultural center, voicing the readiness of the center to support the establishment of the Dar-ol-Quran.





He added that the new Quranic center will be set up at Haj Umar Al-Futi Mosque in Dakar with the aim of promoting Islamic unity and disseminating Quranic teachings.





The Senegalese side welcomed the suggestion and highlighted the important religious and cultural status of Iran in the world.





He said that a number of Senegalese experts will attend meetings at the Iranian center to discuss the construction project of the Quranic center.





The Iranian representative also gifted 30 copies of the Holy Quran to the Senegalese figure at the end of the meeting.



 



Senegal is a country on Africa’s west coast, neighboring Mauritania, Mali, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.





Islam is the predominant religion in Senegal where 92 percent of the country’s population is Muslim.
