The Iranian Culture House in the city will organize the program in cooperation with a number of Hyderabad religious and cultural institutions.

According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), holding the festival was discussed in a recent meeting of Ahmad Abdollahpour, the head of the Culture House, and Pakistani cleric Hojat-ol-Islam Sajjad Javadi.

Abdollahpour said that the Prophet of Mercy festival should be held in the Islamic Unity Week to highlight the status of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in unity of Muslim Ummah.

He added that it should be organized with the participation of different Islamic schools of thought.

Hojat-ol-Islam Javadi, for his part, expressed readiness for cooperation with the Iranian Culture House for best holding the event.

The 17th day of the month of Rabi al-Awwal in the lunar Hijri calendar is believed by Shia Muslims to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), while Sunni Muslims regard the 12th day of the month as the birthday of the last prophet.

The interval between the two dates is celebrated every year as the Islamic Unity Week.

Late founder of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini (RA) declared the occasion as the Islamic Unity Week back in the 1980s.
