Nearly 1 Million Iranian School Students Are Quran Memorizers, Official Says
Mikaeel Baqeeri, the ministry Quran, Etrat and Prayers Deputy, said there are 950,000 Quran memorizers among school students.
He said they have learned from half a Juz (part) of the Quran to the entire Quran by heart.
According to the official, some 4.5 million students have taken part in different categories of Quran, Etrat and prayers competitions in the country in the current school year (2017-2018).
The noted that the national stage of the Quran, Etrat and prayers contest for school students is annually organized in the holy city of Mashhad.
Baqeri further underlined the need for employing proper methods to convey Quranic teachings and concepts to students.
Since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, great strides have been taken in the country to promote and develop Quranic activities among all groups of people, especially teenagers and the youth.
