Quran Competition Underway in Iraq’s Al-Muthanna

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The first edition of a national competition on Quran memorization and recitation has been organized in Al-Muthanna Governorate of Iraq.

 

The competition began on July 26 in Samawah city, the capital of the governorate, with the participation of representatives from the National Center of Quranic Sciences affiliated to the Iraqi Shia Endowments Office.

The Haj Rafid Makki Grand Mosque of the city hosted the opening ceremony of the competition, attended by Seyyed Ammar Basim Maksusi, deputy of the national center.

Salih Wadi Al-Durai’i, head of the Iraq’s Union of Quranic Organizations and Associations, was also present in the ceremony and appreciated the cooperation of the national Quranic center in holding the the competition.

The representatives of the center also took part in a Quran reading session held in the city on Friday before the beginning of the competition.
