Iran Int’l Quran Contest: Finalists Named

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The names of the contenders making it to the final round of Iran’s 37th International Quran Competition were announced by the organizing committee.

According to the committee, Qaris from Afghanistan, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, and Lebanon are the ones who will compete in the finals of the Tahqiq recitation category.

In Tarteetl recitation, the finalists are from Iran, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Algeria, Syria and the Netherlands.

Representatives of Russia, South Africa, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iraq, the US, Mauritania and Libya have made it to the final stage in the memorization of the entire Quran category, the committee said.

It also announced the names of finalists in separate sections held for religious seminary students and women.

Hamid Majidimehr, an official with the committee, said that 15 contenders from 15 countries will be present the finals in the memorization of the Quran category in the women section.

He also noted that the finals will be held in early march on the occasion of Eid al-Mab’ath, which marks the anniversary of the beginning of the mission of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The semifinal round was held earlier this month with the participation of 120 Quran reciters and memorizers from 70 countries.

In the preliminary stage, there were 600 contenders from 70 countries.

Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization annually organizes the international Quranic event with the participation of Quran activists from various countries.

Qaris and Quran memorizers from over 80 countries took part in the 36th edition, held in Tehran in April 2019.

The 37^th edition, originally planned to be organized in April 2020, was postponed and then held in three stages virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic.
