Zionist Regime’s Dream of Disarming Palestinian Resistance Not to Come True: Expert
Speaking to IQNA on the anniversary of Gaza people’s victory over the Zionist regime in the 22-Day War, Wael Karaz answered questions on the situation in the Gaza Strip and other parts of Palestine.
The 22-Day Gaza War was the Zionist regime’s three-week brutal invasion of the Gaza Strip.
It began on December 27, 2008, and ended on January 18, 2009.
The Israeli regime killed many innocent civilians in the 22-day aggression on Gaza but finally had to accept defeat without achieving any of its objectives.
In his interview with IQNA, Karaz said that, years after its 2009 defeat, Israel is trying to force the Palestinian resistance to hand over their weapons in exchange for reopening of Gaza border crossings.
The Zionist regime is also making attempts to win the backing of the world public opinion on this issue but what the enemy is seeking to happen will never happen, he said.
Karaz referred to the Sword of al-Quds Operation and said it demonstrated what true battle means and the unity it created will be the way to victory and liberation of Palestine.
The name ‘Operation Sword of al-Quds’ was used by the resistance groups based in the Tel Aviv-blockaded Gaza Strip, including Hamad and the Islamic Jihad, to specify their defensive operation against the regime’s latest war on the coastal sliver in May 2021.
The operation saw the resistance firing more than 4,000 rockets against the occupied territories, forcing the regime to desperately call for a ceasefire after just 11 days.
The operation also sought to exact revenge on Tel Aviv over its weeks-long harassment of Palestinian residents of Sheikh Jarrah in Jerusalem al-Quds.
Karaz said the Palestinian nation will continue its resistance against the Tel Aviv regime with all its power.
He hailed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s support for the resistance and the cause of Palestine and the Palestinian nation as well as the support from Arab nations like those of Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Sudan, regretting that rulers in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia have made concessions to the occupation regime instead of helping Palestine.
Asked about negotiations on prisoners, he said the Zionist regime is very keen to have information about the whereabouts and conditions of its prisoners held by the resistance forces but the Palestinian resistance has made it clear that only after release of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails, can Tel Aviv receive that information.
