TEHRAN (IQNA) – The secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought says the Tehran Quran Exhibition is a good response to Iranophobia and Shiaphobia.

Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Shahriari made the comments in an interview with IQNA during his visit to the 30th Tehran International Holy Quran Exhibition.

“Given that the Holy Quran is the core principle of Islamic madhhabs, the Quran exhibition can act as an influential body in achieving proximity of madhhabs and realizing the unity that we seek to gain in the Muslim world,” he said.

The cleric said that global arrogance uses various approaches including Shiaphobia to sow discord among Muslims.

“The solution to confront these plots is to have Quranic activities in the form of exhibitions and other similar events,” he said.

According to Shahriari, the participation of prominent artists and scholars from other Muslim nations can pave the ground for increased interaction between Muslim countries.

Elsewhere, he noted that “unfortunately, there are extensive propaganda against Shias as some wrongly claim that Shias even have their special edition of the Quran.”
