Russian Police Opens Criminal Case after Alleged Quran Burning in Moscow

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Russia’s police have started investigations into a video which depicts burning a copy of the Holy Quran allegedly in the Eastern District of Moscow.

“Currently, a criminal case has been opened on the fact of the incident,” the police said in a statement, according to local media.

Complex search operations are underway to clarify all the circumstances of the event and to identify and arrest the suspect, it added.

According to the police, the video is most likely recorded in the Eastern District of Moscow.

Earlier, Ramzan Kadyrov, head of the Chechen Republic, had denounced the video as a “provocation”, pledging that the perpetrators of the desecration would be brought to justice.
