TEHRAN (IQNA) – Hazrat Khadijah (SA) made a thoughtful choice when she was sought after by all the men in her tribe for marriage, says a university professor.

Hazrat Khadijah (SA)

Addressing a Quran interpretation session, Hojat-ol-Islam Nasser Rafiei from Al-Mustafa University pointed to some of the characteristics of Hazrat Khadijah (SA). Here are excerpts from his speech:

She didn't let emotions cloud her judgment and instead made a wise decision. Throughout the ten challenging years in Mecca, she staunchly defended Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Historical accounts from tourists who visited Mecca mention the presence of the Prophet's wife's house. Unfortunately, in the mid-1960s, this house was destroyed by a violent, irrational, and ignorant wave of Wahhabism that disregarded history and values.

It is narrated that many men from Khadijah's (SA) tribe sought her hand in marriage, but she chose the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and stood by him for 15 years, enduring the hardships, torture, and slander during his prophethood.

She dedicated her entire life to Islam, and Muslims owe much of their faith to her. We are still lacking in honoring her and should do more to promote her life. Institutes, mosques, and centers named after Khadijah (SA) should be established in every city.

Khadijah (SA) had the longest years of life with the Holy Prophet (PBUH). She was the first woman to believe in him, never adhered to ignorant beliefs, and recognized the light of prophethood within him.

Khadijah (SA) was the first to pray alongside the Prophet (PBUH) and was a firm believer in him. As a result, when the Prophet (PBUH) entered Mecca, he chose to reside near her grave, and none of his subsequent wives ever took Khadijah (SA)'s place. While all the wives of the Prophet (PBUH) are highly respected and referred to as the mothers of the believers in the Quran, Khadijah's (SA) status remains unmatched.

Today, family disputes and divorces are on the rise, often due to the lack of proper criteria for a good marriage. It's not that beauty isn't important, but having the right criteria is essential.

The Quran encourages us to hasten in acts of charity, seek God's forgiveness, and practice piety.

Khadijah (SA) was known for her cleanliness and purity, having never succumbed to the false culture of ignorance and immorality. She remained untainted by usury and a corrupt economy, choosing to distance herself from such societal influences.
