Quran and sign language

"Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), the drafting process of the sign language Quran is finished and will soon be printed. This will be the first Quran to be printed in sign language in Indonesia and even the world," said Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas on Monday, Indonesia’s Temp magazine reported.

The sign language Quran aims to facilitate the access of people with hearing disabilities to the holy book. The ministry's Research and Development Department has already produced a digital version of the sign language Quran, but the printed version will be available by the end of this year.

The printed sign language Quran will consist of two parts, each containing 15 juz of the Quran. The ministry plans to print 1,000 to 2,000 copies of the first edition.

The sign language Quran will be thicker than the usual Quran, as it will include sign language symbols for every letter, vowel, and punctuation.
