Fatemeh Shirazi made the proposal in a letter to newly-appointed IRIB chief Peiman Jebeli.

Citing verses from the Quran as well as a hadith of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Shirazi elaborated on the importance of Quran memorization for the community at the outset of the letter.

She also touched upon the view of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution, who said some 10 years ago that the country need to train 10 million Quran memorizers. Shirazi said plans for achieving this aim have been slow and need increased attention.

The top international memorizer lauded current Quran channels in the Iranian national TV and Radio, however, said that these are not enough and there is a need to have specialized channels for memorization.

She also said further details of the plan will be provided in an in-person meeting with the IRIB chief.
