People of Zangiabad, a city in the Kerman district, have bestowed the handwritten Qurans, said Samaneh Moallemzadeh, head of handwritten books section in the library.

She did not reveal other information on the details of the books.

She said visitors can see and use the digital editions of the manuscripts under special guidelines.

178 Lithographed books, 98 books printed on a movable type, and 27 other handwritten books are also being kept in a special section of the library, she added.

Topics of these old books mainly relate to religion, history, and medicine, Moallemzadeh noted.

She also added that a call will be made across the province in the coming days for collecting handwritten books.

The building of the library has been built some 100 years ago and was first a cotton mill, however, in 1991, years after the factory had been closed, the site underwent restoration and became the Central Library of Kerman.
